age: maybe 8 or 9
Favorite game: Destroy the Speedrunning Dog Game
pet from: Stephen Meisner, Chief Correspondent
Gizmo is a mixed breed rescue, and perhaps the most gentle – and energetic – dog I have ever met. His favorite thing on earth is overtaking cars (not chasing them), so we take him to a park that borders a busy road and watch him try to race cars. It’s funny. He is very cute and also has horrible anxiety. Thunderstorms, strange sounds, venting in our living room, the sound of a massive fire alarm talking to us – there is no end to all the horrors this world inflicts on my poor puppy. But he is also my strong companion and should always be by my side when I work or play.
Favorite game: Bring, chase, the world of Pawcraft
pet from: Tim Clark, Brand Manager
Batman has been Tim’s constant gaming companion through the years of Destiny 2 grind and climb the Hearthstone ladder, providing his support in the forms of fart of varying intensities and grunts that can always be heard on Discord. Reliable to claim the exit to take a leak just as you reach the final DPS stage on a devious raid boss. Side note: Batman hates virtual reality because it means you don’t look at it.
Noun: Fred and Barney
Favorite game: Barking at the postman
pet from: John Strike, Art Ed
Fred and Barney are long-haired, black-haired dachshunds, more commonly known as sausage dogs. They are the best companions from the same litter – we went to buy one and ended up with two. They enjoy chasing pigeons, barking at TV, eating occasional cat feces (formerly cat food) and discouraging drag exceptions.
Noun: Ben Kat
Favorite game: screaming
pet from: Someone on the Road by Nat Clayton, News Writer
We don’t have a pet, but I do have a parade of neighborhood cats that I got to know very well. Best of all is a boisterous bastard sitting atop a common chest, yelling at people until you give him a pet or rub his stomach. Bin Cat is basically a local celebrity, and I’ll always stop on the way back from the shops to pay attention, shout again in his constant meow, and let him follow me back down the road.
I think his real name is Fluffy, but that’s a boring name for a cat.
Favorite game: Get away, Star Wars: Knights of the old version
pet from: Evan Lahti, Global Editor-in-Chief
Lomi (Finnish for “snow”) is a suspected mix of Dalmatia and Whippet that we rescued last year after we moved to Michigan. He enjoys all of his canine activities, except for his barking, which we greatly appreciate. Lumi isn’t a huge player in PC games, but he holds a high score in realistic Whack-a-Mole in a rustic backyard. Like the legendary Sarlac, he also loves to dig a giant sandpit and lie in it.
Favorite game: shed daylight
pet from: Phil Savage, UK Editor-in-Chief
My girlfriend’s Honduran Milk Snake is actually a huge fan of computer games – specifically the heat it produces. When she’s not enjoying some hatches, she shows her mastery of this kind of stealth—usually hiding in some small, hard-to-reach bunker behind a radiator. You hadn’t really played hide and seek until you tried to track down six feet of the missing snake.
age: 6 months?
Favorite game: wheel
pet from: Jacob Ridley, Senior Hardware Editor
Hopper likes to run very fast at the wheel, and therefore does not have time for small computer games. However, it’s named after famous computer scientist Grace Hopper, so there’s something of a PC gaming link out there. Hops is also the sister of Zwicky Hammy Wickens. They no longer live together because, although she may be young, Hops is very angry and had to be forcibly removed from the family home. tragic.
Favorite game: Paperboy (1985)
pet from: Stevie Ward, Community Manager
Coleen is a slightly sulky Jack Russell-Chihuahua-Corgi mix. Colin is a professional to the end, works hard and plays hard. Coleen has more than 6,500 friends on Facebook.
age: 8 months
Favorite game: sleeping dog
pet from: Harry Shepherd, Evidence Editor
In Foxy’s view, any moment she didn’t spend in one of her multiple beds, chewing and vacuuming her food bowl is a wasted moment. It’s a mixture of all kinds. German Shepherd, Cooley, St. Bernard; People have all guessed it. She especially likes the guides section of the magazine. I just happened to find it on these pages for this totally candid snap.
age: hard to say
Favorite game: Rocket League
pet from: Tyler Wilde, Executive Editor
Robert reproduces asexually by roots, so it is difficult to judge his age. In a sense, he’s as old as his bloodline, which must have been very old already. In other words, it’s a plant I got from Home Depot last month. Like other Dracaena trifasciata and some of his Rocket League teammates, Robert is a bit toxic and doesn’t do much.
age: like 6
Favorite game: kick her little legs
pet from: Morgan Park, Staff Writer
Riley is a cat that my partner found on her doorstep sneezing and whistling like a helpless little swirl. We took her and cured her of a cold, and now five years later she’s my archenemy. When she’s not ambushing my ankle in the hallways, she’s just waiting for the perfect moment to jump on my desk and slap her claws on the keyboard. She paused videos, added countless spaces to paragraphs, and left behind piles of hair that could make her own kitten. I like to believe she’s going off because she wants to use my computer but I can’t until I fall asleep.
Favorite game: Dogo Elysium
pet from: Jodi MacGregor, Weekend Editor / AU
Half kelp rescue dog, but also part labrador/border collie/mysterious hound. Mika enjoys chewing, licking, staring at cats, and pawing at his laptop as a way of saying “Pay attention to me, not that turn-based strategy game,” Instagram, and celebrate pigeon survival by finding the biggest turd it can do, and rolling it in.
Noun: Maze and Bruce
age: 6 and 12
Favorite game: Grim Dog
pet from: Andy Chalk, President of US News
This maze is on the left and Bruce on the right. Bruce is 12 years old, weighs eight pounds, and is blind and grouchy. The Labyrinth is half his life, twice as old, and wants nothing from anyone but constant attention and approval. I mean, Fixed. She is a boxer/bulldog cross; It is too small. Maze loves bros. Bruce hates the maze.
Favorite game: Mario Kart Live: The Home Arena
pet from: Graeme Meredith, Video Producer
Descended from a long line of London street cats, Kabuki enjoys eating literally anything, including sharp objects, electrical wires, or other things that can kill him more or less instantly (he’ll eat the dice in this photo if given the chance). Besides tiring the jaws of death, he also enjoys watching high-contrast games on TV, like Splatoon or Wipeout – messing with people while they’re playing VR is also a good laugh for him. But as he gets into middle age, Kabuki is settling into a cute feline routine (finally) which makes it easier to keep him alive a little longer.
Noun: the above
Favorite game: steal socks
pet from: Fraser Brown, online editor
Max is an Australian Labradoodle and may actually be two dogs. One is a spoiled French prince, who is lazy and judging everyone with his strange sad eyes. The other is a shaggy idiot who loves to steal socks and are totally dirty. He actually had a short-lived career as a game critic, which helped me review trash Call of Duty: Ghosts. He loved the dog but hated everything else, and he never played another video game again. These days, it mostly oscillates between complete indifference and outright jealousy when I’m playing something.
Favorite game: DragonBall FighterZ
pet from: Jorge Jimenez, hardware writer
Having appeared on the site before, Sonny is no stranger to the glamor and charm of being an internet celebrity. This unbelievably pure rat dog runs our household with an iron paw and is often accused of being a sentimental terrorist, mostly by me. This part-time dog model has its own limited edition Sonny All Year calendar. He also leads Yamcha in DragonBall FighterZ, which should tell you enough.
Favorite game: fat princess
pet from: Molly Taylor, Trainee News Writer
Luna is like the little sister I didn’t want or ask for. She’s a little diva who loves my screaming awake at 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning and refuses to do anything at all without bribing food, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. She doesn’t really do that Act PC games, because that requires doing some form of movement and getting up too – two of her least favorite things. I named it after the Usagi cat in Sailor Moon, but it only responds to the words “cat,” “chicken,” and “bedtime.”
