After a number of false starts, Stalker 2 is officially on the way. The long-awaited sequel to the beloved (and deeply flawed) Stalker series will take players back to The Zone, a highly polluted and extremely dangerous area surrounding the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
This first person shooter series is known for its gloomy atmosphere, monsters, horrific mutations and ruthless combat. Fans (including me) have been waiting for a decade for the sequel that was originally announced 2010.
Here’s everything we know about Stalker 2.
What is the release date of Stalker 2?
We don’t know the release date of Stalker 2 yet – in 2018, GSC Game World hinted that it would release in 2021, but we don’t know if that’s the plan. The official site It currently states, “We are not ready to disclose a release date yet.”
GSC said the work is “progressing smoothly”, but we don’t know when Stalker 2. 2021 comes out? 2022? Later? It’s all about guesswork at this point.
Will Stalker 2 be on PC?
Yeah! The Stalker series has always been on PC, but Stalker 2 is also a “console exclusive launch” on Xbox. This is a confusing statement, but it does not mean that PC players should wait. It just means that PlayStation owners will be out of luck. The official website for Stalker 2 states that the PC version will be launched simultaneously with the Xbox version.

the first was humor This “demonstrates the level of graphics and atmosphere we aim to achieve upon release,” according to GSC Game World. Which is apparently not actually taken from the game itself, which is being developed in Unreal Engine.
But it certainly captures the mood or the (bleak) original games, and shows many anomalies, rotten areas where the laws of physics have been seriously skewed and valuable artifacts can be found. You can also look at the creepy mutated Stalker dogs that run in a pack at some point.
And of course, many stalkers sit around a fire while someone plays the guitar. Never change, Stalker.
that teaser in the engine Follows, which is still not playing. It shows the first-person view of a character exploring an abandoned building, then pulling out what is supposed to be some kind of high-tech anomaly detector, and then watching the objects soar through the air. It is a kind of low-tech anomaly detector.
Accompanying this teaser is a description that explains that we’re watching stuff from the POV of Skif, the hero of Stalker 2. He’s in a ruined elementary school on the outskirts of Pripyat to hide from an emission, one of the normal bursts of energy radiating from the center of the area that has consequences for anyone caught in The outdoors when it takes off. (The consequences are death.)
a Developer Diary in March He gave us an uninspiring look at some of the weapons we’ll be using, and some of the faces we might use on them. The video got really hard in those characters’ teeth for a reason, making sure we know that every non-playable character in the game will have a unique smile.
There is a real open world this time
The maps in previous Stalker games were great, but they weren’t completely open worlds. Despite its large size, it was broken into pieces and directed through a few specific access points to move between them.
Stalker 2 will officially become a seamless open world game. “For the first time in the series, the region will be yours to explore as a post-apocalyptic open world – one of the biggest yet,” says GSC Game World.
A-Life has been upgraded
There is a lot of simulation going on in Stalker games – members of different human factions roam the area, just like you, and there are all kinds of mutants and creatures sneaking around too.
These different entities conflict and interact, even when you are not around to see them. In previous games, a system called A-Life simulated the world and its inhabitants, and now A-Life 2.0 will do just that in Stalker 2.
What is the theme of Stalker 2?
Not much has been revealed about the story, but the scenario looks similar to previous games.
“Bounty hunters delve deep into the region, driven by its treasures and mysteries. Some escape their pasts, some are blinded by money, and some are obsessed with finding the truth behind all the mysteries.”
The story will be non-linear, and the GSC says “your choices will affect short-term consequences and global outcomes.”
Raytracing and resolutions
GSC . confirmed RTX support For Stalker 2 on Xbox Series X and Series S, and 4K resolution for Series X, which means we can safely assume that the same features will be coming to PC.
Should I play other Stalker games before I play Stalker 2?
Yes you are. This is not official, this is just my personal guidance for you because two of the Stalker games (Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat) are excellent.
If you want a second opinion, GSC Game World has its own answer to this question: Yes, you do.
“Stalker 2 is a standalone project that can be enjoyed on its own,” GSC posted on the GSC website. “At the same time, we recommend completing the previous games for maximum immersion.”
So yes. you are doing. It is better to start.
Will Stalker 2 support the mod?
The original Stalker series is kept fresh by an enthusiastic and dedicated mod community. GSC plans to support mods with Stalker 2 as well. “We are fully committed to making modification as simple as possible on day one.”
Hey, what does stalker stand for again?
Yes, the game is actually STALKER, and it’s more annoying to type than Stalker. And the letters (presumably, because the story is a bit complicated) represent scavengers, transgressors, adventurers, loners, killers, explorers, and thieves.
Which one will you be? Maybe all of the above.
