Epic Games ‘impressive Unreal Engine 5 is now in developers’ hands upon its entry Early access starting today. The powerful game development engine has been expected for about a year now, since the company put out a show First technical offer. Earlier today, Epic Games penetrated a little deeper into Unreal Engine 5 with airing. However, it has been aimed more at developers, as it showcases the various features and tools available. The early access version is only available to game developers who want to try it out before purchasing. However, the full release date for Unreal Engine 5 is set in early 2022.
The presentation, hosted by Epic Games, provided just a 15-minute look at what’s in store. Among the hot new features is Nanette, which is a “robust virtual engineering system.” From a layman’s perspective, Nanite in UE5 allows developers to create highly detailed environments without the usual massive cost in time. Lumen, which, like Nanite, was featured at the presentation last year. This feature is a “fully dynamic global lighting solution” that developers can use to implement and change realistic lighting on the spot.
But that’s not all UE5 brings to the table. Nanite and Lumen, while still adorable as Hell, are not alone in features. Epic has also developed new tools such as Control Rig to create animations that can be shared with multiple models. The global division, one file per actor, and data layers work together to help developers create open worlds. UE5 also comes with MetaSounds, a “high-performance system that provides complete control over the DSP audio graph generation of audio sources.” Finally, Epic is working to support an improved editor with an improved user interface.
