Sega is the Top-Rated Metacritic Publisher of 2020
Each year, Review Aggregator and Metacritic Debate Starter publishes a list Video Game Publishers Ranking Based on the results of a review of their releases over the past 12 months. This time, Sega was announced a win thanks to games like the PC version of Persona 4 Golden (87), Football Manager 2021 (85), Yakuza: Like a Dragon (83), and various Total War DLC content that all scored average. Scores from 80. The re-release of old games definitely helped, like Yakuza’s Xbox One port 0, which scored 90 points.
Number two on the list was Annapurna Interactive, publisher If found … (84) and I am dead (77), which did well in console versions of Kentucky Route Zero and Florence. In fact, they had an average slightly higher than the Sega, 81.9 versus 81.6, but lost the bonus score by not having any game score a median of 90 or higher. Take it with Metacritic.
Capcom ranked third among publishers, Sony ranked fourth, and Activision Blizzard was ranked fifth. This is a drop from last year’s runner-up for Activision Blizzard, with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 (88) preventing further slippage.
It was a further drop for 505 Games, who were the top-rated publishers of 2019 thanks to Control (85) and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (83), but fell to 13th in the final ranking.
