Sega promised a lot from Sonic in 2020. Then late last year, I did Lots of Sonic in 2021. Will 2022 be the year of Sonic Relative Silence? Apparently not: A 24-episode animated series called Sonic Prime is set to release next year.
According to a press release I received, the series will be aimed at children 6-11 years old, which means that no adults are allowed to play around with it online. Elsewhere, the ad throws the net a little wider, and recommends it to “kids, families, and old fans.”
It will be animated by WildBrain, who previously worked on Snoopy in Space and Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, Carmen Sandiego, and Mega Man: Full Charged, among others. WildBrain will collaborate with Sega on production as well, while the creators of Ben 10, Man of Action Entertainment, will act as executive producers and exhibitors.
It appears to be a “high-octane adventure” where the fate of strange new multiverses lies [Sonic’s] Elsewhere, we are certain that “Sonic’s adventure is about more than just a race to save the universe, it is a journey of self-discovery and redemption.” So look forward to some warm, sweet vibes in the company of a blue animal, when Sonic Prime finally arrives on Netflix sometime next year.
Note: This is Sonic the Hedgehog outfit It’s still there, you know:
