Is this the Asus ROG Phone 5 with a second “matrix” display?

Earlier this week, an alleged prototype of the Asus ROG Phone 5 It was leaked on the Internet. While these leaks only showed us the back of the device, there is a new practical video that now shows a live phone from all angles. The ROG Phone 5 looks similar to the ROG Phone 3 but is getting some design updates from the venerable ROG laptops we saw last year. One of the major additions is a secondary “matrix” view. Yes, the ROG Phone 5 will get a secondary miniature display on the back instead of just a flashing RGB LED. Remember ROG Zephyrus G14 with matrix style cover case? This is what this phone is trying to emulate, albeit in a more useful way. Such as I have seen In the video from Weibo, this screen displays basic notifications in matrix color graphics. ROG 5 leaked again

The secondary screen is installed vertically in keeping with the rest of the phone’s design elements. In a nutshell, the ROG Phone 5’s secondary display shows active Game Center notifications and a phone call notification. Compared to the flash icons from the old models, the new mini screen is more useful. However, these are early stages and there is a possibility that Asus will drop them in favor of the backlit RGB logo that has been tried and tested. The video gives us a glimpse once again on the entire back of the phone. There is a familiar ROG Phone theme with a gray background that has some strong lines and geometric elements to indicate the intent of the gameplay. We also get a glimpse at the front of the device, where the surprises seem to end.

The ROG Phone 5 prototype featured symmetrical thick edges at the top and bottom, similar to the ROG Phone 3. This hints at Asus keeping its class-leading stereo speakers on the phone and not going for the gimmick that all other phones aim to achieve. The phone appears to be running the Game Center player we’ve already seen working on older ROG Phone models.

Asus There have been no official announcements yet for the ROG Phone 5, therefore, we must take this video with a pinch of salt. However, most smartphone brands are now launching their annual flagships earlier than the usual launch window. Hence, Asus could prepare to launch the successor to the ROG Phone 3 this year. This phone could be powered by Snapdragon 88 chipset and possibly a 144Hz AMOLED display with 1080p, 6000mAh battery and 64MP triple rear camera.
