Falling Frontier by Stutter Fox Studios is an upcoming space-based real-time strategy game with a near-realistic look of space science fiction. It’s a really familiar look for people who love science fiction in the near future, like these fans of the hit series The Expanse. The Falling Frontier civilian ships feature utilitarian designs based on ease of use, while military ships feature sleek armored designs based on turrets and engines.
Falling Frontier aims to be a classic RTS-style game, but to create the genre by focusing on “logistical gameplay and physics-based destruction in a large-scale star system”. It is set in a futuristic star system on the verge of human expansion, where competing factions of (supposed) descendants of humanity fight each other for resources, supremacy, and political causes. The One Select screen shows Lineage options, all the large objects in our solar system and presumably the origin of the colonists in your space.
Early gameplay videos show physics-based destruction and ship movement. There is a distinct difference between military and civilian aircraft, although civilian aircraft appear necessary for operations such as the refueling and rearming of military ships. There are also tropical shipyards and habitats in the videos and screenshots.
Falling Frontier is expected to be released in June 2021 and will remain in early release for approximately 12 months. You can find Falling Frontier by Stutter Fox Studios on Steam. You can find more Falling Frontier videos The studio’s YouTube channel.
