Itch.io sales event gives 100% of the revenue to developers today

If you love games and the people who make them, then today is your lucky day. Itch.io standalone digital game storefront is hosting a special event today. No, it has nothing to do with Black Friday; This is just a coincidence. The whole day , Itch Every cent of every sale is given directly to game developers.

While it is a surprising coincidence that this event coincides with Black Friday, it also means that a handful of popular games are being discounted at the standalone storefront. These deals run for the next three days and include heavy discounts on games like ThumperAnd the Between usAnd and A short walk. Again, if there was one day to buy indie games, it is today.

Developers are getting more than just a slide

Itch.io is already a special site for indie developers, providing those fledgling studios or solo programmers even more flexibility and profitability. Other online game retailers usually force a very hefty sales cut – the Epic Games Store takes 15% while Steam takes a whopping 30. However, Itch.io requires only 10% of the revenue and gives developers the option to adjust this value to more or less. This doesn’t matter much at the moment because 100% of all sales go directly to the developer’s pockets

Retailers who properly support indie games are few and far between, and Itch.io is definitely one of the best. However, it is not only good for developers but fans of indie games as well. The storefront constantly launches events that give access to hundreds of games. Itch.io made headlines earlier this year for one such event, the Racial Justice and Equality Package, which ended up being Raised over 8 million US dollars That was split between the NAACP and the Community Bail Fund. Anyone who donated to this bundle received more than 1,000 games which would have cost approximately $ 10,000
